
Mustapa Hj Ibrahim dilahirkan pada tahun 1946 di Bagan Datuk, Perak dan meninggal dunia pada 28 Mac 2024 di Selangor. Beliau adalah tokoh pelukis yang menjadi penggerak kepada penubuhan kumpulan seniman yang digelar ‘Anak Alam’ sekitar tahun 1970-an. Mustapa Hj Ibrahim bukan sahaja seorang pelukis, malah beliau berbakat sebagai penyair, pelukis ilustrasi, pemain teater, pereka prop teater dan pemuzik alam (gendang dan bungkau). Selain itu, beliau adalah pelaku gerak spontan yang kisah dan catatan senimannya perlu didokumentasikan dalam sebuah naskhah penerbitan seni visual negara. Penglibatan beliau dalam seni bermula apabila beliau mempelajari seni lukis dengan mengikuti kelas lukisan yang dianjurkan Angkatan Pelukis Se-Malaysia (APS) di Studio Taman Budaya, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur pada akhir 1960-an. Beliau kemudian mula giat melukis secara serius melalui pelukis potret terkenal seperti Mohd Hoessein Enas dan Mazeli Mat Som. Mustapa Hj Ibrahim adalah seorang seniman yang inovatif dan berdedikasi tinggi.
The National Art Gallery held an exhibition "Archive Project: Mustapa Hj Ibrahim" from 26 June 2024, to 21 January 2025, at the Portrait Gallery, Balai Seni. Country. This archival exhibition brings together the rare collection of Mustapa Hj Ibrahim has registered as a collection of national visual arts such as black and white and color photography, poetry manuscripts, screen silk prints, paintings, and two sculptures.
In addition to commemorating this famous painter, the exhibition "Archive Project: Mustapa Hj Ibrahim" also aims to spread awareness of 'documentation' among young artists to develop their archives as the importance of art historical value in the future. Mustapa Hj Ibrahim was born in 1946 in Bagan Datuk, Perak, and died on 28 March 2024 in Selangor. He is a figure painter who became the driving force behind the establishment of a group of artists called 'Anak Alam' around the 1970s.
Mustapa Hj Ibrahim is not only a painter, but he is also talented as a poet, illustrator, theater player, theater prop designer, and natural musician (drums and drums). In addition, he is a doer of a spontaneous movement whose stories and artist notes need to be documented in a manuscript national visual art publication. His involvement in art began when he studied painting by attending a painting class organized by the All-Malaysia Painters Association (APS) at the Studio Cultural Park, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur in the late 1960s. He then began painting seriously through famous portrait painters such as Mohd Hossein Enas and Mazeli Mat Som. Mustapa Hj Ibrahim is an innovative and highly dedicated artist. It can be seen through his artwork, where he always explores various renewals in self-expression and artwork at the same time making it meaningful and effective. Earlier, his artwork was exhibited at the Art Gallery of the Country through the "Malaysian Scenery Exhibition" in 1972, "The Exhibition Warisan Endau/Rompin" in 1985, "The Open Exhibition of the National Gallery of Art" in 1989, and more.
